Description
Complete alternator conversion kit for the Mercruiser 470 aliminum block engine. The 470 charging system uses a stator that puts out continuous current and heat so its water-cooled voltage regulator is subject to burnout. And even with an expensive replacement, the problem will reoccur. This new conversion kit utilizes the alternator found on most other Mercruiser stern drives which charges only when current is needed, producing less heat and less chance of burnout. This kit eliminates both the stator and water cooled voltage regulator.
The new conversion kit is more energy-efficient, resulting in more miles per gallon and higher top-end speed.
- Includes new 68 AMP alternator, mounting brackets 18-5968, pulley, wiring, hardware and instructions
- Converts model 470 aluminum block Mercruiser engines to alternator system
